How uploading to the CLOS Cloud works

When a photographer chooses to save to the CLOS Cloud the photos are initially saved to the subject's device cache memory. If the subject's internet connection is fast, the photos are uploaded to the CLOS Cloud in real-time during the shoot. If the internet connection is slow or unstable, the photos will begin to be uploaded to the Cloud after the shooting session is over and the subject leaves the room.

To speed up the uploading, the subject needs to navigate to the main screen of the CLOS app and keep the app running in the foreground, with the phone unlocked at all times during the upload of photos.

If you as a model/subject feel like the uploading to the CLOS Cloud stuck make sure to exit the virtual room. Try to restart the app by swiping it up and opening it again. Also connecting to a stronger WI-FI should help to restart the uploading process.

Please don't delete the app before all the images are uploaded to the CLOS Cloud. Otherwise all the images will be lost.

How do models prepare for Virtual Shooting?

1. Share photos of the location where you are planning to shoot with a photographer.

2. Schedule the session in the daytime, the camera works better in a daylight.

3. Wipe the camera before shooting, use the fabric you wipe your sunglasses with. :)

4. Check how much memory is available on your phone. We recommend having at least 10 GB of free space.

5. Think in advance about how to set up your mobile device. It's better to have a tripod but if you don't have one you can use duct tape or books.

6. If a photographer was shooting with CLOS Cloud on don't forget to exit the room once the shoot is over. A model/subject needs to wait until the uploading process is over. We recommend leaving the application open and the device unlocked.

PRO plans info

CLOS Subscription Plan allows you to have CLOS Cloud storage, ability to choose Telephoto / Ultra Wide camera, RAW format and invite Viewers to the photoshoot. CLOS Storage varies from plan to plan. We have 5GB, 50GB and 100GB plans.

What to do if after the photo shoot I don’t see all the photos in the album?

If after the photoshoot you are seeing a message 'Model is still uploading photos' in the album, please ask the model to keep the app open, the mobile device unlocked and wait until all files are uploaded to CLOS Cloud.

The uploading speed depends on the internet connection quality, as well as on the number and size of files from your photoshoot (one RAW file can reach 25MB in size).

We recommend uploading images while being connected to a strong WI-FI signal. Images with previews are already fully uploaded to the Cloud and you can download them. Please, don't forget to tell the model/subject not to delete or close the app until all the images are fully uploaded to the CLOS Cloud. If the app will be deleted while the images are being uploaded all the images will be lost.

Is it free?

Yes, you can take photos via clos app remotely for free, but if you need additional features like RAW, Viewer, or extra cloud storage, you will need to pay for a PRO account.

How does it work?

CLOS app revolutionizes the photography process by allowing you to remotely control a model's camera through video call. Our app enables you to make video calls, giving you the feeling of being in the same room with your model, even if you are in America and your model is in Australia you still can use our app to hire photographers. Simply connect via CLOS app, frame your shot, and press the shutter button as if you were there, capturing the perfect moment.

Is CLOS free to use, or do I need a subscription?

CLOS has a free tier that lets you try core features — like hosting basic remote shoots and test castings. But if you want the real power (unlimited sessions, high-quality captures, advanced controls, cloud storage, and pro tools), you need a paid subscription. Think of the free plan as the starter — enough to kick the tires and do occasional shoots. The subscription unlocks the features serious creators depend on every day.

Where are my photos stored, and how do I download them after a shoot?

Photos are securely stored in the CLOS cloud and доступны in your dashboard, where you can preview, download, and share them after the session. You can also choose to save all files directly to the subject’s phone gallery. Videos are currently saved only to the subject’s or model’s gallery — video files are large, and for now they aren’t uploaded to the cloud to ensure stable recording and the best possible quality.

Can I use CLOS on my computer, or is it only available on mobile?

CLOS works on both desktop and mobile. Photographers can use the web app or the mobile app — whatever fits their workflow. You can host sessions, direct shoots, and review captures from any device. Models or subjects, however, must join from a smartphone, since the phone camera is used for live photo and video capture. This setup keeps the process flexible for photographers while ensuring proper capture quality from the subject side.

How do I deliver or share photos with my client after the shoot?

After the shoot, all captured photos are available in your CLOS dashboard. You can download the files and deliver them to your client using any workflow you prefer — cloud links, galleries, or post-production pipelines.

CLOS also includes a built-in gallery where you can upload finished images and share a clean, client-ready link if you want everything delivered in one place.

If files were saved directly to the subject’s phone, the content is already delivered at the moment of capture — no uploads, no waiting, no extra transfer steps.

What if some photos are not appearing or still uploading after the shoot?

In most cases, this is related to connection speed. Uploads may take longer if the subject had a weak or unstable internet connection during the session. Give it a few minutes and refresh the dashboard — files often finish uploading in the background. If photos were set to save to the subject’s phone, they are already safely stored in the gallery. If something still seems missing, contact CLOS support and the team can help recover or clarify the issue.

How long are photos stored on CLOS Cloud? Do albums ever expire?

For paid subscriptions, photos and albums are stored in the CLOS Cloud until you delete them. There’s no automatic expiration — you stay in control of your content. For free accounts, photos and albums are stored for up to 90 days. After that period, files may be automatically removed unless you upgrade to a paid plan.

How do I create or host a casting call on CLOS?

You create a casting call by starting a session in your CLOS dashboard and generating a shareable link. That link is all you need — send it to models or agents, and they can join the live casting at the scheduled time.

Once the session starts, you host the casting like you would in real life: you direct participants, capture photos and videos in real time, and review the results immediately. No studio, no travel, no extra setup — just a live, production-quality casting online.

How can I ensure the best image quality during a virtual shoot?

Treat it like a real shoot — setup matters. Make sure the subject has good natural or continuous lighting, a clean background, and a stable internet connection. A newer smartphone will always give better results. Before you start, take a few test shots to check framing, exposure, and focus. During the session, give clear direction just like you would on set. When lighting and positioning are right, the results feel like you’re shooting on the same location — just remotely.

Does CLOS handle payments or billing for photo shoots?

CLOS is currently focused on production, but there is a beta payment feature available. If you want access to it, contact CLOS support and the team can enable it for your account. This allows you to keep shooting and billing in one workflow, while the feature continues to be tested and improved.

Will my subscription renew automatically, and how does billing work?

Yes — CLOS subscriptions auto-renew by default so you don’t lose access mid-month. You’ll be billed on the same day each billing cycle (monthly or yearly, depending on your plan).

Here’s the practical part:

• You’ll see the renewal date and price in your account settings.

• Your payment method is charged automatically unless you cancel before the next cycle.

• If you change plans (upgrade or downgrade), billing adjusts on your next renewal.

You can always check your next billing date or cancel auto-renewal right from your Apple or Google account.

Can I control the model’s camera remotely (focus, zoom, settings)?

Yes. During a remote session on CLOS, you can trigger the camera remotely and guide the framing in real time while the model uses their phone. You see the live feed, give direction, and capture images at the right moment.

Exact camera controls (like focus, zoom, or exposure) may depend on the model’s device and operating system, but the workflow is designed so you stay in control of the shoot without being physically present.

What equipment or technical setup do I need for a remote shoot?

You need a computer or phone with internet. The model only needs a smartphone and the CLOS app.

What is a virtual photoshoot and how does it work on CLOS?

A virtual photoshoot lets you direct a shoot remotely while the model uses their phone. You control the process, they handle the camera.

How do I download all the photos from the session?

If you were using the CLOS Cloud to store photos, you can easily download the entire album:

1) Enter the app's gallery,

2) Long tap on the cover of the album.

3) Tap Share.

4) Tap "Copy Download Link".

5) Copy past or share download link.

Where are the photos saved when shooting remotely?

There are three ways to save photos: locally to the model's/subject's camera roll or CLOS gallery or to the CLOS Cloud. (1)

When to save photos to the model's/subject’s camera roll or CLOS gallery?

A photographer doesn't require to review or edit images before sending them to a model/subject or a model/subject chooses which images to send for editing.

And when to save photos to CLOS Cloud?

  1. A model/subject couldn't have access to the photos.

  2. All the photos must be reviewed and chosen by a photographer.

  3. Photos are taken in RAW format and alternative file sharing services don't support RAW images sharing without quality drop.

  4. A photographer wants to see the previews during the photo shoot.

In order to upload images to the CLOS Cloud the model/subject needs to exit the virtual room after the photoshoot is finished and leave the app open and the mobile device unlocked.

How can I contact CLOS support if I need help or have issues?

You can contact CLOS support directly through the app or via the website. Just send a message describing the issue, and the team will get back to you as quickly as possible. Support is there to help with technical issues, feature questions, or beta access — whether you’re preparing for a shoot or already in the middle of one.

How do I create an account and set up my profile on CLOS?

Creating an account on CLOS takes just a few minutes. Sign up on the website or in the app, verify your email, and you’re in. From there, you’ll be guided through a short onboarding where you add your name, role, and basic project details. Your profile is fully editable in the dashboard. You can update your photo, contact info, and preferences anytime, so you’re always ready to start a shoot or host a casting without extra setup.

Can I conduct video shoots with CLOS, or is it just for photos?

Yes, you can conduct video shoots with CLOS. The platform supports both photo and video sessions, so you can record high-quality video remotely while directing the subject in real time. This makes CLOS suitable not only for photo shoots, but also for video castings, content creation, interviews, and motion-based work — all without being on the same location.

How do I invite models or clients to join a remote shoot? Do they need the CLOS app?

You invite them via a link. Models need the app; clients can join as viewers.

How do remote casting calls work on CLOS?

Remote casting calls on CLOS work like a real in-person casting, just without travel. You create a link and participants join a live session. During the call, you can shoot high-quality photos and videos in real time, direct the talent, and see results instantly.

Unlike standard Zoom castings, CLOS is built for production quality. You get better image and video output, proper framing, and a workflow that feels like you’re on the same location — without flights, studios, or delays. This makes CLOS especially useful now that many castings have moved online but still require professional results.

Can clients or team members join a session as viewers to observe the shoot?

Yes. You can invite clients or team members to join a session as viewers. They can watch the shoot live, see the framing and results in real time, and give feedback if needed. Viewers don’t control the camera or capture content — they’re there to observe, align, and approve, just like being on set without physically being there.

Does CLOS support high-resolution photos or RAW image capture?

CLOS supports high-resolution photo capture, so the images you get are suitable for professional use, delivery, and post-production. RAW capture depends on the model’s device and operating system. While not all phones support RAW in a remote workflow, CLOS is built to get the maximum possible quality from the device — far beyond screenshots or video grabs — and is continuously improving capture options as mobile hardware evolves.

Is remote shooting with CLOS secure? Can anyone access my camera without permission?

Yes, remote shooting with CLOS is secure. A camera can only be accessed during an active session that the subject explicitly joins. No one can connect, view, or trigger the camera without the subject’s permission. Sessions are invite-only, links are unique, and access is controlled in real time. Once the session ends, camera access is automatically closed — there’s no background access and no silent recording.

Are my photos and data private on CLOS? Who can access my images?

Yes. Your photos and data on CLOS are private by default. Only you and the people you explicitly invite to a session, casting, or gallery can access the images. CLOS does not make your content public or share it with third parties. Access is permission-based, and you stay in full control of who can view, download, or receive your files at every stage of the workflow.

What should I do if I have connection issues or can’t see/hear participants?

Start with the basics: check your internet connection and make sure the subject has a stable signal as well. Wi-Fi is usually more reliable than mobile data, especially for longer sessions. If issues continue, try refreshing the session or rejoining the call. Most connection problems are temporary and resolve quickly. If something still doesn’t work, reach out to CLOS support and the team can help troubleshoot the issue.

Who owns the rights to the photos taken through CLOS?

The person who captures the content owns the rights. If you are the one triggering the shutter and recording the photos or videos, the rights belong to you. CLOS does not claim ownership over any content created on the platform. It simply provides the tools to capture and deliver the material — ownership and usage rights stay with the creator, just like in a traditional shoot.

Does CLOS include built-in video chat, or do I need a separate app to communicate during a shoot?

CLOS includes built-in communication, so you don’t need a separate app like Zoom or FaceTime. You can talk to the subject and direct the shoot in real time inside the same session. Everything happens in one place — communication, capture, and review — which keeps the workflow fast and focused, like a real shoot without switching tools.

How do I start a remote photoshoot session on CLOS?

Create a session in your dashboard and send an invite link to the model.

CLOS Pro subscribers will also enjoy option to choose between different photo formats (JPG, RAW*) when using the main camera, and switch between standard and ultra-wide camera modes if model’s/subject’s device has more than one camera. *Please note that not all Android devices support RAW format.

How it works

2 To set focus on an object tap on the area you want to focus on. To change exposure tap on the screen and drag the slider up or down

3 If there are overlapping areas on the screen tap on the screen again for the frame to reset focus and exposure.

Is it free?

How does it work?

CLOS app revolutionizes the photography process by allowing you to remotely control a model's camera through video call. Our app enables you to make video calls, giving you the feeling of being in the same room with your model, even if you are in America and your model is in Australia you still can use our app to hire photographers. Simply connect via CLOS app, frame your shot, and press the shutter button as if you were there, capturing the perfect moment.

How do I invite models or clients to join a remote shoot? Do they need the CLOS app?

You invite them via a link. Models need the app; clients can join as viewers.

What equipment or technical setup do I need for a remote shoot?

You need a computer or phone with internet. The model only needs a smartphone and the CLOS app.

How do I start a remote photoshoot session on CLOS?

Create a session in your dashboard and send an invite link to the model.

What is a virtual photoshoot and how does it work on CLOS?

A virtual photoshoot lets you direct a shoot remotely while the model uses their phone. You control the process, they handle the camera.
